GOLD COAST WATER CAPEX PROJECT

The creation of a centralised mangement structure to oversee eight separate infrastructure projects; wastewater treatment plants, sewer, recycled water and water supply network upgrades, a recycled water treatment plant, installation of pipelines for recycled water provision, commencement of a major dam upgrade and the Gold Coast Desalination Project .

THE AWARD

Australian Insitute of Project Mangement - Queensland - Project of the Year - Runner-up

Gold Coast Water and Southern Pacific Alliance Network's initiative in designing Capex Major Programs resulted in the delivery of $400 million of water and wastewater infrastructure programs in the same time it previously took to deliver just $50 million of works.

The innovative management approach consisted of eight separate infrastructure projects managed under a single, centralised structure.  Gold Coast City Councillor Daphne McDonald, Chair of the Water Management Committee, said “Gold Coast Water’s approach to capital works project management has far exceeded the outcomes of pre-existing management methods. This highly successful program has delivered $1.26 billion in infrastructure and reduced the environmental impact of water service provision in the region.”
